Monty's June Mutterings
June 2014. Hello everyone! Thank you for giving me this opportunity to say a few words on the 25th anniversary of Sussex Caravan Centre. It really is amazing how far we’ve come in such a short time. Of course, I’ve always heard of the humble origins of this company from Martin, starting out as an idea of two men who wanted to make their own way in the world. It reminds me of a quote from Walt Disney (one of Martin’s favourites): “The way to start something is to quit talking and begin doing”. That’s exactly what they did, and along the way they’ve picked up quite a few friends. Even through Brian no longer works for the company, his ideas and hard work are still remembered in the work of the newer, and in some cases younger members of the Sussex family.
This brings me nicely onto some of the later editions to this company - me and the other Sussex dogs. We haven’t been around for too long, but what a time that has been. A time full of ups and downs, and a lot of fun. As most of you know, I write the mutterings sometimes, and I think I speak for everyone on this team when I say that working at the caravan centre is more rewarding then most jobs on the market today.
I honestly don’t think that the caravan centre that Martin and Brian thought of all those years ago was anywhere near something like we’ve accomplished. Now I don’t know about you, but I think that’s pretty cool. A work place where you can still laugh and have fun, but still feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of each new deal or sale.
And so, I guess it’s only onward and upward from here. The way the caravan centre looks, runs, and deals will always be changing, but I hope we never lose sight of one thing, that it was all started by two blokes with an idea. And with that there is nothing left for me to do put raise my paws towards a bigger, brighter future that’s in store.
Thank you, and stay classy Sussex Caravan Centre!
